Our Goals.
Nachappa Lab is dedicated to the success of Colorado hemp producers by providing the latest information on pests and pathogens. The goal of the CSU Hemp Entomology program is to better understand hemp pest and disease behavior, and to help develop management strategies with Colorado growers. This is accomplished though our two major focuses:
- Research: As a part of Nachappa lab, our program conducts research to better understand virus-insect vector interactions and develop strategies to mitigate the damages caused by hemp pests and diseases. To learn more about our ongoing research, please visit our Research page.
- Extension: Our focus is to determine the unique concerns and needs of Colorado hemp growers and help offer effective solutions. Our outreach efforts are conducted through several facets:
- Our Website: On this website, you can find our Extension page. This page includes up-to-date resources on hemp management, as well as a curated newsfeed specifically geared towards local hemp growers.
- Our Newsletter: Our program offers a Newsletter, which includes updates on ongoing research, local hemp news, and other resources to help growers develop effective IPM strategies.
- Presentations: Any upcoming presentations or talks with local growers will be announced through our newsletter.
